Guy Thompson & Co is registered with, and regulated by, The Law Society.

Guy has experience throughout Europe and beyond, obtained by working in the European head offices of global companies serving the financial services industry.

As well as the practicing in the specialist areas of data and software licensing and employment law, Guy Thompson was Compliance Officer of the stockbroker Bridge Trading Company (UK) Limited (a member of the London Stock Exchange) from 1998 until its acquisition by Reuters in 2001.

Guy Thompson & Co is well placed to use Guy's experience across a broad range of issues.

Since forming Guy Thompson & Co in July 2003, Guy has been constantly engaged by clients supplying data, news, software and advisory services to the financial community in the City of London. Topics covered have included:

2001 - 2003 European Legal Adviser, Moneyline Telerate Limited

As a senior manager in the business administration department of the Moneyline Telerate business, Guy Thompson implemented a new corporate structure that maximised operational and fiscal efficiency. At the same time he retained responsibility for legal matters for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

1998 - 2001 Company Secretary and European Legal Adviser, Bridge Information Systems (U.K.) Limited; Compliance Officer, Bridge Trading Company (UK) Limited

Following the acquisition of the Telerate business from Dow Jones, Bridge possessed several market-leading products. Guy developed contracts for the data business, and compliance documentation for Bridge Trading to meet the requirements of the Financial Services Authority.

1990 - 1998 Company Secretary, Compliance Officer and European Legal Adviser, Dow Jones Telerate Limited (later known as Dow Jones Markets Limited)

Guy managed a team of lawyers who worked closely with the Business Development department at the heart of Dow Jones' European data business. As well as handling high-value software and data deals, he was active in meetings with UK and EU officials regarding new laws and directives.

1988 - 1990 Legal Adviser, Telerate (U.K.) Limited

Guy was chosen as the first in-house lawyer at Telerate, a company that had grown exponentially in the 1980s.

1986 - 1988   Assistant Solicitor, Withers solicitors

After qualifying at Withers, Guy joined the firm's Company and Commercial department, acquiring knowledge and flexibility he has applied throughout his career.
